Since our founding in 2000, the Caribbean Genealogy Library has been helping our members to research, document and share their family stories. CGL is a unique and valuable research library. Through the library’s collection of books and historic records, workshops and lectures we encourage research and education. The library is operated solely by memberships and donations.

As one of the islands’ most important research libraries, the Caribbean Genealogy Library’s collection includes over 5000 books, periodicals, microfilms and other documents related to genealogy and history of the Virgin Islands, Caribbean, South America, the United States and Europe. In its collection are materials related to the early history of the islands such as Danish West Indies Census Records form 1841-1917, and church records for the Virgin Islands and neighboring islands dating back to the late 1700s. These resources are catalogued, archived and conserved in our air-conditioned library. Microfilm readers, photocopiers and computers are available.
